It all happened in 1994 when a group of like-minded people had a discussion in Michael Kelly's pub. They came up with the idea to bring together young, inexperienced actors, singers and dancers with experienced players (of which Wexford has no shortage!) and to put on a show during the Wexford Opera Festival. This seed of inspiration turned into the Oyster Lane Theatre Group, who, through producing fifteen shows so far, have given breaks to dozens of new actors and singers and entertained thousands.

Shows such as Grease, Evita, My Fair Lady and Jesus Christ Superstar, to name a few, have all created individual success stories for the group, pulling in capacity crowds to Dun Mhuire Theatre and playing an important part in the Festival fringe. Casting each year stays true to the group's commitment to mix youth with experience producing a show to the highest standards.
